Twins Research Australia (TRA) is a national research resource funded in part by the Federal Government (NHMRC) through a Centre of Research Excellence grant. Based at The University of Melbourne we undertake and support twin research across a network of institutes and hospitals across Australia.
TRA’s multidisciplinary collaborations span the research community and aim to further empower twin research in Australia and globally, to address health challenges for the whole population.
The impact of our research is widespread. We have contributed to new insights, prevention and treatment for some of the most challenging health problems of our times.
With 35 years’ experience and expertise in supporting twin studies, we have one of the largest volunteer twin research registers in the world, with 75,000 twins from around Australia interested in helping research.
Access to twins and data is open to all research institutes and provides a cost effective way of recruiting twin participants and conducting studies.
