Training Opportunities for ATR Users

The ATR plays an active role in training its users. Advice is readily available to prospective new researchers and the application review process provides constructive criticism from the Director and/or other experienced twin researchers. The ATR has been running national workshops since 1988 to help train researchers in twin study methodology and the practical aspects of conducting twin studies, including ethical and other issues (IRITF, AEA, GeneMappers).

To expand training opportunities, the ATR has allocated funds to an Annual Research Travel Grant Scheme to support attendance of young researchers at workshops, conferences and relevant courses, such as the renowned Twin and Family Studies Methodology Course at the Institute of Behavioral Genetics, University of Colorado.
